Here’s something you might not know: Berkshire hasn’t actually had a county council since 1998. It was divided into six separate unitary authorities, but the Berkshire identity remained and it is still proudly known as the Royal County.

Perhaps that is quite fitting for children’s residential care too. There isn’t one single Berkshire recruitment market. Reading, Slough, Windsor, Maidenhead, Bracknell, Wokingham and the more rural areas of West Berkshire each have their own challenges when it comes to attracting and retaining experienced residential childcare professionals.
